It is with heavy hearts that the family of Catherine Abbott announces her peaceful passing at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre in Harbour Breton at the age of 73 on June 28, 2025 after a 3 year courageous battle with cancer. She leaves to mourne with fond and loving memories her husband: Roy; children: Jason Abbott, St. Alban’s, NL, Lisa Abbott (Marvin Kendell), Morrisville, NL & Jamie Abbott (Tammy), St. Alban’s, NL; grandchildren: Matthew, Daniel, Tanner, Somer & Marissa; sisters: Joan Davis, St. Alban’s, NL & Liz (Mike Mackenzie), Edmonton, AB; brothers: Clarence Davis (Patsy), St. Alban’s, NL & Bill Davis (Audrey), St. Joseph's Cove, NL. She is predeceased by her sisters: Mary Agnes Abbott & Millie Davis; brothers: Allan Davis & Max Davis; parents: Samuel & Mary Jane Davis.

Catherine was a loving wife to her husband Roy, married 52 years, devoted mother, proud grandmother, sister, sister in law, aunt and friend.

A storyteller with a heart full of music, Catherine had a gift for bringing joy to those around her. Whether she was recounting tales from her childhood, singing a song or humming a tune while folding laundry, she had a way of making every moment feel like you were at home. She often said “If I’m humming, I’m happy.” And she usually was - especially when surrounded by those she loved.

Catherine was a family-oriented woman whose life revolved around caring for her family. She doted on her grandchildren, and was always quick with a story, a hug, or some delicious homemade bread. For the last decade and a half she lovingly cared for her husband, Roy, through his struggles with his health. These simple acts demonstrate the depth of her love, compassion, and the quiet strength with which she approached every challenge.

Even in the face of illness, she remained a light for her family - her grace, resilience, and gentle humor in the face of adversity were an inspiration to those around her.

Her songs may be quieter now, but they will never stop playing in the hearts of those who knew her.
