It is with great sadness that the family of the late George “Long Jarge” Sutton announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the age of 94. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Shirley Hoskins, St. John’s, NL, Wilson Sutton (Darlene), Halifax, NS, Geraldine Sutton (Erin), Edmonton, AB, Loretta (Adonis Benoit), Head of Bay d’Espoir, NL, Sarah Sutton (Callistus McDonald), St. Joseph’s Cove, NL, Adrian (Neta), St. John's, NL & David Sutton (Bonnie), Mount Pearl, NL; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Elmer Sutton (Sarah), Head of Bay d’Espoir, NL, Alfred Sutton (Shirley), Head of Bay d’Espoir, NL, Clarence Sutton (Joyce), St. Johnn’s, NL & Wallace (Laura), Mount Pearl, NL; sister: Catherine (Dave Organ), Halifax ,NS, as well as a large circle of other nephews, nieces relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife: Rita; daughter: Norma Rotchford; son: Craig Sutton; grandchildren: Owen Benoit, Ronnie Rotchford & Lucas Fizzard; brothers: Dennis, John, Joe & Christopher; sisters: Mary Gosse, Florence Caul & Amelia Sutton; partner: Amelia Strickland. Funeral service on Tuesday July 15, 2025 at 11am at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, St. Alban’s, NL with Father Tom Duffenais officiating. Interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Veronica’S. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Hynes’ Coast of Bays Funeral Home, St. Alban’s.
