James "Jim" Farrell Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Farrell on Saturday, July 19th, 2025 at the Connaigre Peninsula Community Heath Centre in Harbour Breton, NL, at the age of 71.

Jim leaves to mourn with fond memories: his wife of almost 45 years, Marilynne; daughters Agusta (Michael Whittle) and Stacey (Shane Croke); sisters Helen (Kev Hoskins), Marie (Howard John), Melita (Jerry Kearley), Joan (Tom Skinner), and Carol (Larry Smith); brothers Don, Howard, and George; sisters-in-law Wendy Davis (Chuck), Bonnie Lacey (Rob), and Sandy Robinson (Doug); brothers-in-law Keith Arseneault (Diane) and Allan Arseneault (Joanne); 23 nieces and nephews; and close friends Owen Cox, Barry Kearley, Bud Crant, Ozzy Snook, John Willcott, and all of the Sunday Morning guys.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Effie, sister Linda, brothers Joseph and Michael, parents-in-law Gus and Nora Arseneault, sister-in-law April Dubenow, brothers-in-law Gary East and Paul Dubenow, nephews Ryan Dubenow and Cornell Farrell, and special pets Sam, Peanut, and Lucian.

Jim was born on July 25th, 1953 to Howard and Effie (nee Collier) Farrell in St. Alban’s, NF. He graduated high school and attended Memorial University. He worked with his father at the Farrell and Sons sawmill and then moved to Toronto to work in 1973. He became a foreman at Canada Plastics and this is where he met his wife, Marilynne. They got married in 1980 and had 2 children, Agusta and Stacey. They moved back to Newfoundland in 1995 to a newly built home in St. Alban’s. Jim and Marilynne built their business at The Warehouse 2000 Ltd. for 19 years. During Jim’s retirement, he enjoyed gardening, watching movies, the news, and reruns of old tv shows, driving around town, spending time with his family, being with his friends on Sunday mornings, hunting and fishing, and taking care of his pets Chucky and Romero and grandpets Xena and Thorin. Over the past 8 months, Jim struggled with many medical issues, but continued to be positive and make people laugh.

There will not be a visitation or funeral service, but there will be a Celebration of Life at The Warehouse on Saturday, August 9th, 2025 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM. Jim would want everyone to stop by to share some stories because he always had a story to share with you.

Live long and prosper among the stars, Dad. We love you to the moon and back.
