Lived with Wence and Myrtle in Labrador City in a two bedroom apt. on Avlon Driv with my two children. The storm of 1982. Wence got stuck out to IOCC for the night. The power got cut of at 3 with winds ranging from 100 to 120
Miles a hour. By 4 you couldn't see out through windows.with help from other tenants we keep warm with blankets and clothes and even warming food on a camp stove. Around midnight with the help of IOCC security we finally good rescue. Leaving the apartment Myrtle with Natasha and me with Gloria , Myrtle is screaming she is afraid of the wind taking Natasha and me yelling hold on to her. Finally got to the vehicle and they took us to a house that had power on Tamarack, Clarence Briger's where that night about 30 stayed all night, a night we will not forget. We also had many good night's at Myrtle and Wence's apartment playing scrabble or cards that's where all friends meet

Myrtle was such a friendly person. She always had a smile on her face and would make anyone laugh. She always said laughter was the best medicine. She was very proud of her loving family. I met Myrtle when I first worked at the Library here in St. Alban's and Myrtle always had a passion for reading. The last book I ordered in for her at the Library was Jamaicia Inn and I remember her calling only a few weeks ago asking did I get that book in yet and I had it that day and her son came up and got it right away for her. I did not know that would be the last time that we spoke to each other. May you rest in peace and fly high with the angels. You will be certainly missed by everyone Myrtle. Condolences to all her family you are all in my thoughts.

I can’t choose a favourite memory of Aunt Myrtle. I always loved visiting her because she didn’t mince words- she wasn’t pretentious or inauthentic. She said what she felt, she called things as she saw them, and was a constant beacon of what mattered in life. “Oh to be young and beautiful” she would say. How quickly all my worries seemed like petty nonesense. I loved how sassy she was, how fierce and determined she was.
I love you Candice❤️
