He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife: Loretta; children: Sheldon McDonald (Catherine), Head of Bay d’Espoir, NL, Darcy McDonald (Colleen), Brampton, ON, Steven Byrne (Jennifer), Wabush, NL, Christopher McDonald (Megan), Milltown, NL & Kelly McDonald (Danny), Milltown, NL; grandchildren: Austin, Alyssa, Brandon, Cooper, Anna, Callie, Abel, Easton, Jade & Amber; sisters Betty (Robert Childs), Head of Bay d’Espoir, NL, Hazel (Gerard Willcott), Head of Bay d’Espoir, NL, Katie (Adolphus Childs), Gander, NL, Peggy (Roland Lushman), Head of Bay d’Espoir, NL & Ivy (Fabian Willcott), Head of Bay d’Espoir, NL, as well as a large circle of other nephews, nieces relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his granddaughter: Kara; parents: Curtis & Lucy McDonald. John lived every day of his life for himself and his family. He loved the outdoor, simpler way of life, and could almost always be found cutting wood, hunting, fishing, trapping, or tending his gardens. He was a skilled man at many things, and could fix or make nearly anything he put his hands on. He loved his family dearly and would drop everything to help anyone, especially his children and grandchildren. “Johnny McDonald” is a name known by many and he will be remembered for his big smile and the way he made everyone around him laugh. John had a large circle of people who knew him and the impact he made on everyone will last forever. The funeral service will be held at a date and time to be annonced. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Hynes’ Coast of Bays Funeral Home, St. Alban’s.
