Aggie Barnes
The family of Aggie Barnes is grieving her very sad loss today. Aggie has left this world and has gone to join her soul mate and loving husband, Norman, who passed away 5 months before her.
She will be missed by her large family, extended family and many cherished friends who knew and loved her.
Aggie lived a very simple and fun filled life taking advantage of all the gifts and blessings God gave her. She was not grand and had no airs about her. She loved the simple things in life like a good cup of tea and knitting in her chair, cooking a big feed of Turkey and Jiggs dinner for her family, and baking big loaves of her amazing homemade bread as well as pies, cakes and pastries. There was always a wonderful aroma in her kitchen.
Aggie dearly loved a good game of cards. She would bang her trumps on the table from high above it! Her laughter was so infectious that everyone in her company would be in fits of laughter too. Haha, gotcha. Bang.
Her house was always spotless. When you stepped into her kitchen you not only felt the warmth of her wood stove but the sincere warmth of her welcome to her home as well.
She especially enjoyed when her children and their families came home for a visit. Her house was then filled with love, laughter, aromas of great food and the sounds of Newfie music.
Her grandchildren have wonderful memories of their visits with nanny. She loved them so much and taught them a lot. They enjoyed playing cards and old time games with her as well as baking cookies with her. Spending time at the beach in her backyard was a very special treat. She made campfires for them where they could roast marshmallows and wieners. Nanny Aggie left an indelible mark on her grand kids’ memories.
In addition to providing a warm, loving and nurturing home for her six children and their families Aggie loved the outdoors equally as much. She spent many hours outside with Norman. She would go in the woods with him and side by side they cut wood and hauled it out, stacked it neatly and prepared it for use at home. Aggie was tough as nails and could “jump over the moon” she would say.
Aggie and Norman loved going to their cabin in Furby’s Cove where they fished, played cards, cooked up great scoffs and had many parties with friends there.
Aggie always enjoyed the company of good friends. Some Saturday nights they could be found at the local Legion club dancing it up and enjoying a little sociable refreshment. On many Sunday evenings they could be found spending time playing cards with their best friends.
Aggie’s loss leaves a huge void in the Barnes’ family, but all the wonderful memories of their special family times together will remain in their hearts forever. She has passed on her gifts and family traditions to her children and grandchildren which will keep her spirit alive for them. What a wonderful legacy to leave behind!
May her beautiful soul rest in peace with Norman, together forever flying with the angels!

To Kevina, Ken, Pat, Audrey, Michelle, Kathy and all Aggie's Family.
We are very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. What wonderful memories we have of visiting her and your dad. We shared a lot of laughs together and always looked forward to a visit on our trips to bay despoir. The cozy woodstove, a nice cuppa tea, a cold drink, and some funny stories. They were the best people!! We will always remember them. Our sincere condolences to you all during this sad time. God bless.
