Obituary of Abraham Collier
Please share a memory of Abraham to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with immense sadness that the family of the late Abraham “junior” Collier announce his peaceful passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Saturday October 26, 2024 at the age of 53 after a battle with heart disease that one could only call heroic. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife: Erin; children: Olivia (Blair Hutchings), Foxtrap, NL & Zachary Collier (Hailey), St. Joseph’s Cove, NL; grandchildren: Addison, Reagan & Paisley; sisters: Audrey (Bill Davis), St. Joseph’s Cove, NL, Philomena Hull (Colin MacNeil), St. Alban’s, NL, Gertie (Dan Willcott), Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Janice Collier (Willie McDonald), St. Joseph’s Cove, NL & Millie Collier (Colin Cokes), Portugal Cove, NL, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents: Abraham & Esmerelda Collier; sister: Joclyn (Charlie Crant); brothers in law: Allan Davis, John Hull & Shawn Haley. Junior was the kind of person that if you knew him you liked him. He always had a joke to tell no matter the situation, the kind of person you felt comfortable talking to about anything. He was the smartest man, and he had a way with words that no one could come close to which was evident in all the poems he wrote for his friends and close family members. He was class valedictorian, he didn’t believe in calculators so you would find his tiny notebooks around the house and shed with long math all written out for orders for the sawmill and benches he would make, he could add dart scores in two seconds flat and even after a few beer. When he was 32 he decided he wanted to go to school to become an LPN, even in his last couple months we talked about when he went back to work he would try and do the fast track to become an RN. He made sure that everything that his children and grandchildren did they had fun doing it. Whether it was a card game to see who had to dry the dishes, the meatball song to get the girls to have their nightly baths, or even chasing his granddaughters around playing Paisley’s favourite “where’s poppy’ s big kiss?” His granddaughters were his life; even close to the end when he couldn’t do a whole lot, he would get Addie to play cards with him and he would help with her homework and read the girls their bedtime stories just to be with them. Even though his life was short he enjoyed it to the fullest to the best of his ability. He loved the woods, he loved playing darts with all of his friends on Thursday nights. His goats and little dog brought him so much laughter and joy, he loved weekend trips to the cabin and “staycations” with Erin and his best friends Tina & Ro, he loved a great dad joke and even more so the inappropriate ones. He wasn’t a complainer, even after all his ailments this past while; his doctors constantly commented on how stoic and pleasant he was. He was compassionate and silly and this didn’t stop in his home life! Through his years of nursing he left an impact on everyone that worked with him and everyone that had the pleasure of having him take care of them. A father truly is a Sons First Best Friend and A Daughters First Love. Without End Amen. There will not be any formal funeral service. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Hynes’ Coast of Bays Funeral Home, St. Alban’s.
