Obituary of Gary Kendell
Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gary Kendell announce his passing at the Bonne Bay Health Centre, Norris Point, NL, on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the age of 66. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife: Joyce; children: Michele Kendell, Norris Point & Kayla Kendell, Norris Point, NL; sister Patsy (James Augot), Morrisville, NL; nephew: Brandon Augot, Morrisville, NL; aunt: Mary Kendell, Morrisville, NL as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents: Lloyd & Frances. Funeral service on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 2pm at Ascension Anglican Church Morrisville with Rev. Bruce Vallis officiating. Gary was a hard-working family man. He began work as a teenager in the family saw mill. He also worked with the forestry, ship building, aquaculture, and bridge construction in Ontario from which he retired in 2021. Gary was a skilled craftsman, having an incomparable talent for wood working. His love for his family was second to none. You would often find him tinkering in the shed with Kayla, gardening with Michelle, or going on car rides with Joyce to look at the ocean waves and scenery of the great northern peninsula. He loved his girls immensely and there was nothing that he would not do for them. Since his retirement, you would often find Gary in his garden in Norris Point. He enjoyed growing vegetables, experimenting with types of peppers and finding the perfect tomato. The family would like to thank the healthcare team that was involved in his care since his diagnosis of cancer. A special thank you to Dr. Hughes, Dr. Kawaja, nurse practitioner Shawn Cooper, and the nursing staff of Bonne Bay Health Centre. The family would also like to acknowledge the staff in all departments of Bonne Bay Health Centre who eased the stay of Gary and his family during his hospital admission. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Hynes’ Coast of Bays Funeral Home, St. Alban’s. “If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever”
