Obituary of Isadore Benoit

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Isadore Benoit announce his passing at his residence, Conne River, NL on Saturday January 17, 2015 at the age of 82. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Genevieve (Colin MacNeil), St. Alban's, NL, Albert (Kathy), Shoal Harbour, NL, Craig, Tony, Sandy (Kyrian Benoit), Donna (Bern Benoit), Isadore Jr. (Charlene), Corina (Gerard Walsh), & Adam (Lisa), all of Conne River, NL; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers Clarence (Madonna), St. John's, NL, Calvin (Helena), St. Alban's, NL; sisters: Marjorie (Edmund Hunt), St. John's, NL, Cordelia (Clyde Hunt), St. John's, NL as well as a large circle of other nephews, nieces relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife: Elizabeth; parents: Paul & Hilda Benoit; brother: Cecil Benoit; sisters: Lorsien & Sheila. The funeral service was held on Wednesday January 21, 2015 at 2 pm at St. Anne's R. C. Church, Conne River, with Father Edward Brophy officiating. Interment followed at the R. C. Cemetery, Conne River. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Hynes' Coast of Bays Funeral Home, St. Alban's. Isadore was a hard working family man. He was married for 56 years to Elizabeth (Liz) Benoit and they were blessed with a large family. As a young man he worked away in Glenwood and in later years he worked in Conne River as a carpenter. He liked the outdoors and enjoyed moose hunting and salmon fishing very much. He was also very fond of bake apple picking. He and Liz would spend hours cleaning them. He liked to pass his leisure time making wooden money banks, chairs, "country sleds", eel spears and drying salt fish. The side of his shed often displayed his fish and spears. Isadore also had no objection to an occasional barbecue or game of cards, where he liked to share a "nip or two" with friends and family. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
